Obey

Genesis 22:18 - And through your descendants all the nations of the earth will be blessed - all because you have obeyed me.

Abraham's faith and loyalty to God was unquestioned.  He was willing to sacrifice his only son without question or hesitation.  Because of this, God blessed him and his descendants.

Is my faith and loyalty to God unquestioned and without hesitation?  I know I can be better.  With God's love and patience, I will be better.

Dear God, please continue Your patience with me as I continue to grow in my faith in You.  All praise and glory is Yours.  Thank You.  Amen!

Shield

Psalm 3:3 - But You, O Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, and the One who lifts my head high.

This is a great verse to demonstrate God's love.  No matter how sad and down we may get at times, God continues to lift our head high so that we can still and experience His love and glory.

As someone who has dealt with depression through most of my life, God has gotten me through it all.  He still loves me and He still has great things planned for me.  He isn't done with me yet.

Dear Lord, thank Your for getting me through the toughest times of my life.  I am so much better because of You.  I can lift my head see Your love and glory.  Amen!

Love

Luke 6:32 - "Do you think you deserve credit merely for loving those who love you?  Even the sinners do that!"

Glory is found in loving the ones who hate you.  In turning the other cheek.  Everyone can love their friends, but a true disciple of Christ loves all.

This is something I'm still working on.  Being someone who wasn't raised on God's Word, I was always taught differently.  I've had to unlearn what I have learned.

Dear Lord, I pray that You will contine to guide me and give me wisdom to learn anew, and learn what You want me to know.  Thank You God.  Amen!

A Plea

Luke 5:8 - When Simon Peter realized what had happened, he fell to his knees before Jesus and said, "Oh, Lord, please leave me - I'm too much of a sinner to be around You."

Simon Peter knew that he wasn't worthy of Jesus' love, but Jesus felt otherwise.

We all fall short off God's desire for us.  It is when we realize this and confess our hearts to God are we saved. I gladly do this daily.

Dear Lord, I know You love me and I know You want me.  I know I am a sinner and not worthy of You, however You want me anyway.  Thank You God.  Amen!

Preach

Luke 4:43 - But he replied, "I must preach the Good News of the Kingdom of God in other places, too, because that is why I was sent."

Jesus may not have wanted to leave Galilee, because He was well loved, and the people wanted Him to stay, be He knew He had to go.  He was sent to spread the Word of God, and He wouldn't deviate from His mission.

I know that I can get distracted from tasks sometimes.  Everyone dies.  But Jesus was perfect and wouldn't allow it.  We should all strive to stay focused on our walk with God.  Nothing is more important.

Dear Lord, please help me to stay focused on You.  Especially during these tough times in my life.  I don't want to get distracted from Your Glory.  Amen!

Separation

Luke 3:17 - He is ready to separate the chaff from the grain with his winnowing fork.  Then He will clean up the threshing area, storing the grain in His barn but burning the chaff with never-ending fire.

John The Baptist is telling the people that Jesus will be coming, and He will be separating the good from the bad among the people.  The good will be saved and the bad will be cast out.

I hope that I am in, and will remain in, God's favor when He returns to separate the chaff from the grain.  I hope that everyone will be in His favor.

Dear God, help me to stay in Your grace so that I may one day join You in Your Glorious Kingdom.  And please use me to help turn other hearts toward You for their salvation.  Amen!

Response

Genesis 4:7 - You will be accepted if you respond in the right way.  But if you refuse to respond correctly, then watch out!  Sin is waiting to attack and destroy you, and you must subdue it.

How we react says a lot about our character.  If we let our temper get the better of us, we are not responding correctly.  We are letting sin run our lives.  If we are patient and respectful, God's love will shine on us.

God has truly blessed me.  Because of His love and patience, I'm able to control my temper and react correctly.  I know I am not perfect, but I'm better than I used to be.

Dear Lord, thank You so much for Your eternal patience and undying love by letting the Holy spirit work in me.  I am so much better because of You.  Amen!

Tenderness

Luke 1:78 - Because of God's tender mercy, the light from heaven is about to break upon us.

God loved us so much that He sent His only Son. to save us.  he sent John The Baptist to prepare the way for Jesus.  He shined His glorious light upon us, His chosen people.

How awesome is this?!  Who can say that they would be willing to give up their only son to save mankind?  No one.  That's because no one loves mankind the way God does.

Dear Lord, thank You for loving me.  Thank You for sending Your only Son to die so that I may have life in Your Kingdom.  Thank You for shining Your light on me.  Amen!

Praises

Psalm 150:6 - Let everything that lives sing praises to the Lord!  Praise the Lord!

Everything we have and everything we are, we owe to God.  He has done and continues to do so much for us.  We should all sing His praises to our last breath.

Sometimes I feel like I don't praise Him enough.  I try to, but I always feel like I can do more.  He has been so good to me.

Dear Lord, I sing Your praises.  You are so amazing.  I hope I can do You justice with my praises and my prayers.  I will try harder.  Amen!

Delight

Psalm 149:4 - For the Lord delights in His people; He crowns the humble with salvation.

God loves us.  This is the foundation of our faith.  He wants us to love Him too.  He gave us free will to choose.  When we humble ourselves and accept His love, He will bless us with His amazing gift of salvation.

My love for God is unmatched by anything in my life.  Because of my love of God, I'm able to love my family better.  His salvation is my reason for my service to Him.  I can think of no greater reward.

Dear Lord, thank You for loving me and giving Your humble servant Your amazing gift of salvation.  I don't deserve it, but I hope I will earn it through Your grace.  Amen!

Praise

Psalm 148:13 - Let them all praise the name of the Lord.  For His name is very great; His glory towers over the earth and heaven!

God's love and glory is greater than anything on this earth or beyond it.  He deserves our praise for everything He has done for us.  It is our privelege to praise Him.

Do I give enough praise and honor to God?  I hope so.  I praise Him and thank Him for everything He has done for me.  He is so mighty.

Dear Lord, I lift up my hands in praise to You, O God.  You are so magnificent and I am honored to be Your humble servant.  Amen!

Confess

Proverbs 28:13 - People who cover over their sins will not prosper.  But if they confess and forsake them, they will receive mercy.

You can not lead a sinful life and have a relationship with God.  You can't hide your sins from Him.  He knows our hearts.  When we confess our sins and give up our sinful nature, God will grant us His loving mercy.

I don't pretend to be perfect.  I know I make mistakes.  However I have given up my sinful nature and given my heart to God.  I just hope He will continue to grant His mercy on me when I mess up.

Dear Lord, I give it all to You.  I know I am not Sinless, but I do hope that I Sin Less in Your eyes.  Please continue to guide me down Your path.  Amen!

Happy

Psalm 146:5 - But happy are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope is in the Lord their God.

Having God on your side can make you the happiest person in the world.  If He is for you, who could be against you?!  He comforts and protects His chosen people.

For someone like me who has suffered from depression for most of my life, God has cured me.  Whenever dark thoughts have started to enter my mind, I pray, and God comforts and protects me.

Dear Lord, thank You so much for taking care of me.  Thank You for curing me.  Your comfort and protection mean everything to me.  Amen!

Deeds

Psalm 145:12 - They will tell about Your mighty deeds and about the majesty and glory of Your reign.

It is our duty and privilege as Christians and disciples of Christ to spread His Good Word.  Besides that, it's too awesome of a message to keep to ourselves.  Everyone should hear it.

I used to have problems talking about my faith with people.  As I've grown in God's word, it is much easier.  I love to talk about God's love and majesty.

Dear Lord, give me the right words to help share Your message and glory.  I want to help bring as many people to You as possible.  Amen!

Teach

Psalm 143:10 - Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God.  May Your gracious Spirit lead me forward on a firm footing.

A plea for guidance.  This is a great passage.  David just asks for God to teach him to do what is right and to lead him on the right path.  God will do this for all of us if we ask.

I ask this every day of God.  This is where we all should start.  His will be done, not ours.

Dear Lord, I ask again for You to show me and teach me what I need to know, and where You want me to go.  Your  will be done.  Amen!

Psalm 141:3 - Take control of what I say, O Lord, and keep my lips sealed.

It is our responsibility to live godly lives and live according to His desires.  But we can't do it alone.  We need His help.  We must ask for His protection and guidance to keep us on the right path.

I know I have gotten a lot better about seeking God's guidance and protection.  It is something I have always struggled with.  I can still do better.

Dear Lord, I am still a work in progress.  Please continue to guide and protect me in my daily dealings with family, employees and coworkers.  Amen!

Psalm 138:3 - When I pray, You answer me; You encourage me by giving me the strength I need.

Prayer is the answer.  To every question.  When life happens, a lot of us try to figure it out on our own.  And when we don't get the answers we need, we give up, get depressed or do stupid things.  Ask God first, and He will give you the answers you need through His unfailing love.

During this tumultuous time my life right now, I have turned to God first.  It's working!  He is lifting me up aand helping me to carry on.  Because He loves me.

Dear Lord, I continue to seek my answers and guidance from You.  I know that You will get me where I need to go because of Your love.  Thank You.  Amen!

Teaching

Proverbs 22:19 - I am teaching you today - yes, you - so you will trust in the Lord.

The bible is like one big textbook.  We should all be students of God's word.  He will teach us everything we need to know as long as our trust and faith is in Him.

I read God's word every day.  I've learned so much in the short time I've spent in It, but I still have so much more to learn.  God is the best teacher I've ever had.

Dear Lord, thank You so much for teaching me.  I look forward to learning more and seeing what You have in store for me.  Amen!

Proverbs 21:21 - Whoever pursues godliness and unfailing love will find life, godliness, and honor.

As in everything in life, you get out what you put in to it.  If we strive to be godly people and disciples of Christ, and work at it hard enough, God will reward us.  But we have to do the work.  And it's worth it.

Every day I strive to achieve the godliness and unfailing love that God wants from me.  It is very hard work, but more than worth the reward He has for me.

Dear Lord, I ask for Your continued guidance, wisdom and patience as I strive to be the person You want me to be in Your service.  Amen!

Protection

Proverbs 20:28 - Unfailing love and faithfulness protect the king; his throne is made secure through love.

God's unfailing love and faithfulness protects us.  We are safe because of His love.  We are graced by God's love by our unfailing love and faith in Him.

I have given my whole heart to God.  I am all in, because I know He will protect me and make me safe.  If He is for me, who could possible be against me?

Dear Lord, thank You so much for Your unfailing love that protects me and keeps me safe.  With You, I am nothing.  Amen!

Psalm 130:5 - I am counting on the Lord; yes, I am counting on Him.  I have put my hope in His word.

God is the only thing we need to count on.  If we put our hope and faith in Him, He will give us what we need to overcome anything.

I have faithfully put my hope and trust in the Lord.  He has done such amazing things for me, and I know He has so much more planned for me.

Dear Lord, all my hope, faith and trust is in You.  You have already done such great things for me.  I hope I can honor You enough.  Amen!

Fortress

Proverbs 18:10 - The name of the Lord is a strong fortress; the godly run to Him and are safe.

Turning, or running, to God when we face life's trials, should be the first place we go to.  He can overcome all, and He is happy to help you.  But you have to ask.

I find myself turning to God more and more these days.  Years ago, I never would have thought to.  I'm glad I do.  he has helped me so much.  I'm so blessed.

Amazing

Psalm 126:3 - Yes, the Lord has done amazing things for us!  What joy!

The Lord has done and continues to do amazing things in my life for sure.  For starters, he gave up His Son so I may be saved.  But He also led me to Him as well.  I am most grateful for that.

I cannot thank God enough for the amazing things He has done for me.  I have been so blessed.  I hope I can show the proper honor, praise and glory to Him.

Proverbs 16:9 - We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.

We can always want to do something, but only God, in His infinite wisdom, determines whether or not it will happen.  His plans for us are perfect and we must trust in Him.

I have given myself over to God completely.  I know He has plans for me, and they are for good and not evil.  I trust Him to guide me down the path He has chosen for me.

Proverbs 15:22 - Plans go wrong for lack of advice; many counselors bring success.

The more information you have, the better decisions you can make.  The more advice you seek, the more informed you are.

The best advice giver is God.  The best source of information is God's Word - The Bible.  I need to make sure I consult Him and seek His advice first.

Dear Lord, help me stay mindful and seek Your advice first through prayer and scripture.  With those, I can not be led astray.  Amen!

Troubles

Psalm 120:1 - I took my troubles to the Lord; I cried out to Him, and He answered my prayer.

This is what we have to do, if we want to begin to receive God's love.  Accept His gift of salvation, and ask for His forgiveness.  He loves us and wants us, but we have to seek Him.

I find myself praying more and more as my heart draws nearer to God every day.  But I often wonder if it's enough.  I will pray more.  I know He's listening.

Dear Lord, I know that I am unworthy of Your gift, but I know You love me.  Please help me overcome my sin and be the man You want me to be.  Amen!

Psalm 119:7 - When I learn Your righteous laws, I will thank You by living as I should.

People always struggle with this.  We know the rules but we don't obey them.  Man-made or God-given.  This is where we fall short, and we have to work harder to correct it.

I know I struggle with this.  I will work harder to be right in God's heart.  I know that's where He wants me, and that's right where I want to be.

Dear Lord, help me to live right by You.  I know Your plans for me are good, and I want to make sure I've earned them.  Amen!

No Fear

Psalm 118:6 - The Lord is for me, so I will not be afraid.  What can mere mortals do to me?

Everything in this life is temporary.  God and His Glorious Kingdom is eternal.  Wicked people can only affect your mortal flesh.  But this means nothing in heaven.  If we have faith, God will protect us.

Is my faith strong enough to have no fear of what any mortal man can do to me?  I believe it is.  As long as I stay strong in that faith, God will continue to watch over and protect me.

Dear Lord, all of my hope and faith is in You.  I will fear no man while I have You in my life.  Please continue to protect me.  Amen!

Prayers

Psalm 116:1-2 - I love the Lord because He hears and answers my prayers.  Because He bends down and listens, I will pray as long as I have breath.

Even though it may sometimes feel as though God isn't listening, He is.  He answers according to His plan which is perfect, not ours which is tainted by sin.

I always believed that if you're not getting the right answers, it's because you're asking the wrong questions.  We need to seek His will in our prayers, and He will kindly respond.

Dear Lord, all my trust and faith is in You.  Even though I may sometimes feel You're not listening, I know You are.  Your will be done.  Amen!

Psalm 115:1 - Not to us, O Lord, but to You goes all the glory for Your unfailing love and faithfulness.

It all belongs to God.  He has dealt with so much from humanity, but He still loves us, and has faith that we will come to know and love Him.  He has earned all the glory.

I gladly offer all praise and glory to God for what He has done.  Not just in my life, but for the entire world.  My God truly is an awesome God.
