Qualifying The Called

Luke 5:32 - "I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent."

God didn't choose us because we have all the answers.  Nor does He expect us to ever have them.  He chose us because He knows our hearts.  He knows we have a need to be forgiven and made whole.  That's where Jesus came in.  To call us to repentance so that we can start to learn and understand God's purpose for our lives here on earth.

I love when I come across passages like this.  Reading about Jesus calling people like Matthew and Saul of Tarsus are great examples that anyone can be redeemed and saved if they give their heart to Jesus.  Matthew was reviled by his own people because he was a corrupt tax collector working for the Romans.  But God knew his heart, and had a unique plan for him.  He was gonna lead people to their salvation through Jesus Christ.  Saul of Tarsus was probably the absolute last person anyone would ever expect to help lead people to their salvation through Jesus.  He was a Pharisee who was persecuting and murdering people for believing in Jesus.  But God knew his heart and had a plan for him.  Turns out Paul was a pretty good writer too...

Although I haven't been the wickedest (is that a word?) person to walk the planet (and neither were these men), I had a need.  My heart was empty for a long time.  God knew that, and He has a unique plan for me.  He just needed me to let Him in when He started knocking.

Dear Abba Father, thank You for knocking.  Thank You for reminding me that I am being qualified because You called.  Thank You for thinking of me, and I pray that I will continue to find favor with You forever.  In Jesus' name, Amen!

God Bless!!!
