Matthew 13:7 - Other seeds fell among thorns that grew up and choked out the tender plants.
In this parable, Jesus is talking about how we receive the Word of God and the condition of our hearts. Recently, I heard it explained that the thorny soil was representative of a well-meaning heart. Jesus later explained it as someone who hears and receives the Word of God, but allows the problems and cares of this world to choke out the seed. They failed to trust in God, and therefore produced no crop.
God wants me to produce a god crop. He wants my heart to be the good soil that produced 30, 60, or 100 times in abundance. When I meet Him after I've passed on, he will not be saying, "Well done, my well-meaning servant." If I'm not trying to be fruitful and produce abundant crop, I won't be hearing any of that. I need to work to make sure that my heart isn't allowing the problems and cares of this world to choke out the good seed that God has planted in my heart with His Word. I should be striving to hear Him say, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."
Dear Lord, please continue Your work in me so that I am producing an abundance of fruit from the good seed You have planted in my heart. I know that I can be fruitful if I keep my trust and confidence in You, and don't allow the problems of this world to affect my sowing. This is world is fleeting, and You are eternal. You are the prize I am striving for. In Jesus' name, Amen!
God Bless!!!
