Criticism

Proverbs 15:32 - If you reject criticism, you only harm yourself; but if you listen to correction, you grow in understanding.

Criticism, spoken from a true heart, is only intended to help.  Sometimes it can be tough to hear.  Before responding, examine their motives first.  Take it to heart and grow in understanding and God's love.

Because of this passage, I will listen carefully before I speak.  I will take criticism for what it is, and learn from it so I can be more of how God wants me to be.

Dear Lord, give me an open heart, and a slow tongue.  I know you only want the best for me.  Amen!

Shelter

Psalm 73:28 - But for me, how good it is to be near God!  I have made the Sovereign Lord my shelter, and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things You do.

I love to tell people how I came to know Jesus.  We all should.  It should never be anything we are afraid of or embarrassed about.  We are so fortunate to have Him in our lives.  He loves us like no one can.  That's something worth sharing.

Because of this passage, I will proudly share God's love with anyone and everyone.  I have been so blessed by Him, everyone should know what that feels like.

Dear Lord, I thank You for loving me like no other can.  Your blessings for me have been countless.  I hope I can do You justice when I share about You.  Amen!

Control

Proverbs 13:3 - Those who control their tongue will have a long life; a quick retort can ruin everything.

How many times did our parents tell us when we were kids to think before we speak?  I think I lost count after a few hundred.  A lot can be gained by thinking first.  Much more can be lost by not.

Because of this passage, I will work harder to think before I speak.  I will let my brain process everything and let God do His great work so I say the right thing.

Dear Lord, I ask Your help to help me hold my tongue and prevent me from saying the wrong things.  I will accomplish everything through You.  Amen!

Wonder

Psalm 71:19 - Your righteousness, O God, reaches to the highest heavens.  You have done such wonderful things.  Who can compare with You, O God?

No one can compare with God.  He is the best of everything.  he deserves our praises and love a lot more than we deserve His.

Because of this passage, I will praise God with every ounce of my being.  He has done so much for me in my life, it is the very least I could do.

Dear Lord, I offer You my most heartfelt praises for everything You have done, and everything You will do in my life.  You are the best.  Amen!

Pride

Proverbs 11:2 - Pride leads to disgrace, but with Humility comes wisdom.

There are two types of people in the world.  Those who are humble and those who are about to be.  We have nothing to be proud of in this life.  We are all sinners.  But if we humble ourselves to God, He will restore us.

Because of this passage, I will humble myself to God, and beg His forgiveness for all I have done wrong.  His is the grace I need.

Dear Lord, I come before You and humbly beg Your forgiveness.  Save me from myself God.  I need Your help.  Amen!

Strength

Psalm 68:35 - God is awesome in His sanctuary.  The God of Israel gives power and strength to His people.

God gives what we need to defeat sin in our hearts.  We accomplish it all through Him.  He is indeed awesome, and we are blessed because of Him.

Because of this passage, I will lean on God for my strength.  I overcome all because of His love, and I am eternally grateful to Him.

Lord, give me the strength and power to overcome my sin.  I need You in my life more than anything.  Amen!

Confess

Psalm 66: 18-19 - If I had not confessed the sin in my heart, my Lord would not have listened.  19 - But God did listen!  He paid attention to my prayer.

When we confess our sins and accept Jesus as our Savior, God looks favorably on us, and will listen and answer our prayers.  He will give us the answers He determines we need.

Because of this passage, I will continue to confess my sins to God with my heart.  Just because I am saved and baptized, doesn't mean I am sinless, it means I sin less.  God knows my heart, and He knows what I need.

Dear Lord, I beg You to forgive me of my sins, and grant me Your favor.  Give me what I need to bring You glory.  Amen!
